It's just another ordinary day
Another war at play
Another woman restrained
Another case of hate
But I, won't be part of this ordinary day
Because I am Fereshteh Forough. An individual with a mind of her own. Strong opinions yet open to new and different perspectives. Ethnically Iranian, nationally Canadian, my identity as an individual is a result of the fusion of these two complementary, yet opposing forces. My life as an Iranian AND a Canadian has shaped who I am as a person by bringing out and uniting the yin and the yang, the dark and the light, the masculine and the feminine, and the cold and hot forces within me. My culture is the result of the union of these forces. The interconnections between the two opposing view points has led to a more broad outlook on life, where variety is more and uniformity is less. However, I do not allow social norms to challenge my identity, but rather my identity to challenge social norms, because it is only through this ACTION that change can be brought.
